Whilst Star Wars fans the world over are cruising the floors of Comic Cons with a post-coital like strut after The Force Awakens and all it’s tie in merchandising, several fans feel like they’ve been left unsatisfied. One of those is Ant Madina who’s campaign to bring back what he refers to a legendary Star Wars action figure line has raised some eyebrows of the fan community.

But as we found out this is the one issue Ant is not flexible on.

Ant explains; “Back in 1993 Lucasfilm brought out the Bend-Em line of action figures and I was immediately hooked! It’s what Star Wars collectors had been pining for. I mean weapons you could only lose if you had a wire cutter! Free Star Wars Galaxy trading card! Plus let’s face it, 100’s of points of articulation!”

“I feel like after supporting the line from 1993 to when it ceased production in 1993 it’s kind of wrong for Disney to just leave me in the lurch like this” Ant passionately exclaims, clearly the decision has left the die hard fan bent out of shape.

SOME FANS ARE UP IN ARMS OVER HAVING THEIR FAVOURITE STAR WARS LINE CUT SHORT

Ant even took out billboard advertising in a attempt for his cause to gain some traction. Unlike like other grassroots fan campaigns, Ant didn’t seek crowd funding but instead used his own savings. “After it’s initial release I budgeted for around 20 Bend-Em’s a year. Except for the year Shadow’s Of The Empire was released when I’d budgeted for 30.” Ant sighs as he looks wistfully to the horizon and adds; “Based on that projection I’d inadvertently saved around $2500 which I was more than happy to use towards my attempt to expand the Bend-Em’s universe.”

“It’s becoming clear that by their refusal to continue this line and take my money, Lucasfilm under Disney doesn’t really care about the fans and just about money. It’s devastating to me that my children won’t know the exhilaration of being poked with a protruding wire from a figure that refuses to stand.”

When asked if fan made Bend-Em’s might fill his void he quickly snaps back that the “Fan-Em’s” don’t capture the essence of what he’s looking for; “They’re far too movie accurate, when your Bend-Em Princess Leia actually looks more feminine than your Bend-Em Emperor you know you’ve got a problem.”

Whilst Ant’s passion for Star Wars must be applauded, the project has been met some apprehension with many fans thinking that two seperate conflicting toy lines might be too much. “I see their point of view, but I hope they see mine. I mean by now if the line was allowed continue it’s pretty much guaranteed I’d be watching my Tonnika Sisters Bend-Ems being knocked over as I try to stand my The Force Awakens Jedi Master Luke Skywalker Bend-em. I mean it would be unbelievable if they hadn’t made him by now.”
